CALLING ALL ASPIRING BAKERS: MIMIS CAFE CELEBRATES 30th BIRTHDAY WITH MIMI'S MEANINGFUL MUFFIN SEARCH

TUSTIN, Calif. (April 1, 2009) – Mimis Cafe, the all day fresh cafe, is celebrating its 30th birthday with Mimi’s Meaningful Muffin Search. The contest is centered on Mimis Cafe’s most iconic menu item, its fresh baked muffins, with a portion of proceeds to benefit Share Our Strength. From April 1 through May 15, Mimis Cafe is asking Americans to submit their favorite muffin recipe at MimisCafe.com for the chance for their recipe to be featured on the menu as the Meaningful Muffin of 2009. Award-winning pastry chef, acclaimed author and TV personality Gale Gand has teamed up with Mimis Cafe Executive Chef Adam Baird to help determine the contest finalists and grand prize winner.

“For 30 years, Mimis Cafe has been known as a favorite place where our guests can connect with friends and family,” said Tim Pulido, President and Chief Concept Officer, Mimis Cafe. “We are celebrating our birthday by giving back, and it seems natural to invite our guests to truly become part of this milestone and give back with us.”

In addition to the grand prize winner who will receive $1,000 worth of Mimis Cafe gift cards, other winners will receive signed copies of Gale Gand’s latest book, “Gale Gand’s Brunch!”, Mimis Cafe gift cards and a special coupon for all qualified entrants.

“As a mother and professional chef, I’m thrilled to partner with Mimis Cafe to raise funds for an organization I feel so passionate about,” said Gand, judge for Mimi’s Meaningful Muffin Search. “Muffins are one of those baked goods that allow for a lot of creativity – I’m excited to see what America comes up with.”

Finalists will be announced in early June. The grand prize Meaningful Muffin will be made available August through September. For every Meaningful Muffin purchased, Mimis Cafe will contribute $1 to Share Our Strength to help end childhood hunger (up to a maximum contribution of $40,000). The grand prize-winning muffin and runners-up will be determined based on originality, taste and ease with which they can be produced in large quantities.
